The Nova Chiu brand is a fashion label developed in London, England by Nova Chiu and Jeff Archer, in 2018 they moved to Toronto, Canada.
The brand’s aim is to create intriguing silhouettes while focusing on textile, print, and color. The label embodies elements of ethnic cultures from Asia, North America and Europe.
Nova graduated from London College of Fashion in 2011 where she won the prestigious Collection of the Year Award for her graduate collection. This collection garnered multiple sources of press from; Vogue UK, Harper’s Bazaar, The Independent, The BBC, The Evening Standard, and many more.
In December 2011, Nova Chiu and Jeff Archer were selected by an esteemed panel of judges to be one of four designers to showcase their first collection as a brand during Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s One’s to Watch catwalk show in February 2012. With the success of that show, they continued to host catwalk shows during London Fashion Week for the next two seasons. Within this period they were also able to showcase their collections to international buyers in Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s London and Paris showrooms.
The exposure that came from their catwalk shows helped the brand immensely and led to future projects and collaborations with internationally recognized celebrities, companies and fashion design competitions. In 2012, Nova Chiu provided stage outfits for musical artist M.I.A.’s Australian tour. The brand also had an opportunity to collaborate with German shoe company Deichmann on their 100th anniversary celebration. During 2013 they were selected to compete in a major Chinese fashion design competition known as The T-Force International Fashion Awards, which took place in Guangzhou, China. The label competed against nine other designers from around the world and finished in first place.
Nova and Jeff successfully designed, planned, and organized three London Fashion Week catwalk shows, three London Fashion Week Exhibitions, four Paris Fashion Week Showrooms, five London Pop PR Press Days and more than ten other International Catwalk Shows around the world. Attendees were international and local press, media and buyers.
