Manny Berenguel, aka Paranoid Jack is a true veteran of the Toronto underground scene. He released his first single “Herbz The Word” on Stickman Records in 1999. Several more singles and remixes followed shortly after, culminating in a highly regarded full length album “Last of the Funky Cyborgs” in 2001. This early success led to over a hundred tracks and remixes released during the 2000’s on various local labels like Stickman, Aquarius, Release and internationally on Thrust, King size, Lot 49 and NRK. He toured steadily as a DJ throughout North America, Europe and Japan during this era, while also holding down a decade long residency at the legendary original Comfort Zone location. His music has appeared on mix compilations from iconic DJs like Steve Lawler, Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli, Seb Fontaine and Lee Coombs. Memorable singles like “The World Must Change”, “Acid Fixx” and “Dirty Finger nailz” have achieved a sort of cult-status among DJs and are still being played today more than 20 years after being released. In 2012, Manny decided to take an extended break from the music scene to pursue some other things in life. But the music never truly leaves a person, so after a long hiatus Paranoid Jack is back to grinding in the studio everyday doing the thing he’s always loved best…sharing the gift of house music with the world.
