Toronto based Dj and producer, Derek Codlin’s deep hypnotic basslines and grooving pulsing beats make him a storyteller, taking you on an anfractuous journey.
First appearing in 1995, Codlin’s sets have moved many a dance floor across Toronto from old school favorites like the Living Room as a repeated name alongside Andy Roberts and Dino & Terry, to air time on Global Groove Radio 100.7 with Nathan Barato & Carlos Fuerte. Career highlights also include supporting Kerri Chandler, Jovonn, Roy Davis Jr, DJ Romain, Kai Alcé and Alton Miller. In 2006, Codlin released his first vinyl production entitled “Nina’s Moan” which hit #1 on New York Dance Tracks for 2 weeks straight.
Despite this strong beginning in the Toronto house music scene, Codlin made the decision to take a hiatus from public events to focus on producing and continuing to evolve his style and technical skill. Codlin spent hours in his studio creating different sounds and his own beats while keeping under the radar – until now. Wether you’re locked in listening to his mix sets or downloading one of his 12 new releases, Codlin is telling House music lovers that he’s back – and ready to once again grace the stage. Check out his mixes today on Soundcloud and Mixcloud, and for that new deep house track your set has been missing, try out his growing favorites “Homeland” or remix “With Just One Glance” found on Bandcamp under Derek Codlin, or his new techno and house label, Energy State. When asked what we can expect to see in the future, Codlin looks forward to once again getting back to moving the crowds and continuing to focus on new productions.
Tune in to his stories on all streaming services including Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Spotify, and Apple Music. Singles can be purchased on Bandcamp.
