Sam’s active involvement with Toronto’s underground dance music scene dates back over 20 years; first as a frequenter of early warehouse parties and raves, then as an event producer/promoter, and finally as a DJ.
He started a rave company called Thirdstar in the mid-90’s, shifting gears musically to focus on deep house events under the name Soulshack Productions by the end of the decade. Hosting talent such as Theo Parrish, Terrence Parker, Mike Huckaby, Michael Watford and Fred Everything, Soulshack events captured the deep soulful sounds of the era.
A collector of music for over 2 decades, his focus is now on playing music and learning the craft of producing. His sets at Sunnyside Pavilion, Harvest Festival, Sunday Social, Cherry Beach and a countless list of one-off events and house parties have allowed him to explore his eclectic taste in music that ranges from disco to techno and everything in between. A typical Sam Soulshack set is dance-floor forward, rooted deeply in house.
