Faithfully devoted to his city’s local scene, Hans Ohm is the mastermind behind the Architextures event series which found purpose in the simple slogan “Bringing People Together”. Pre-pandemic, it ran consecutively every Thursday for over a decade making it one of Toronto’s longest running electronic dance music weeklies. Literally hundreds upon hundreds of thoughtfully curated nights in a safe, welcoming space; like-minded artists found each other, built lasting relationships and worked in collaborative, creative unison.
Moving the event forward into the next logical step meant forming a record label around it, where Hans continues to foster the growth of a tight-knit community featuring local producers, Dj’s, Vj’s, designers, performers and dancers continuing to evolve their craft together.
Musically he’s always gravitated toward the more minimal aspects of techno, dub, ambient and downtempo. As a sound designer by profession, working in tandem with audio and moving images brings out a cinematic sensibility to his music production. In terms of DJing and conducting a dancefloor, jungle music is where his heart is at. Whether its the thunderous fury of amen breaks, soul-drenched liquid funk flavours or the stripped down sounds of half time … there’s always a story waiting to be told, a journey across the varied and diverse landscape of drum & bass
